Mangoes are the most preferred fruit in India. However, it is called the king of all fruits. It has been grown in India since ancient times. Now, India has become the largest producer of mangoes. Steps of mango cultivation – 

1) Soil and Climate – Red loamy soil is preferred for growing mangoes. Good rainfall is necessary to cultivate mangoes on the farms. 

2) Land Preparation – It is the most essential step in mango farming. Remove all the unwanted trees, rocks, or weeds from the land. 

3) Planting – Mangoes are planted in July or August in rainfed regions and in irrigated areas in February or March.

4) Training and Pruning – Regularly clear the damaged, dead, or infected branches. 

5) Irrigation Management – The type of weather, rainfall, soil, tree age and distribution, and other factors all affect how much irrigation is given to the crop.

6) Intercropping –  It takes five or six years for the mango plant to reach a proper height and form a canopy, now it is time to intercrop.

7) Harvesting and Yield – After 6 years, the mango plant starts bearing fruit. The yield depends on the variety, environmental conditions etc.
