The Libyan Desert Glass was created as a result of a significant meteor impact in the barren desert some 28 million years ago. The heat of this calamitous event converted sandstone into molten silica, which subsequently condensed into droplets as it cooled. These droplets slowly solidified over millions of years to become Libyan Desert Glass and then is transformed into the alluring Libyan Desert Glass Jewelry. This exceedingly rare mineral has only ever been found in two places: the Great Sand Sea in Egypt and Jebel Uweinat on the border between Libya and Sudan. The glass found in the Libyan desert has a rich symbolism and significance.
